BACKGROUND STORY
These beautiful beaded bracelets have been handmade by young women in Here Bugu. A countryside community in Mali, Africa. The bracelets are made by wrapping old fabric from African skirts, around dried palm leaves. The patterns are designed by Laura de Monchy, and the women string the beads on top of the base. Making on bracelet can take as long as one day.
THEIR LIFE
Trough the collaboration with Here Bugu, the local women are able to create an income to provide for their family. They also get the opportunity to follow different courses to enhance their skillset and become even more self sufficient. In collaboration with Plan International Nederland, a part of the profits are being reinvested in professional education for young women in developing countries. A beautiful product for you, means a better life for them.
